A: Casady will resume required service learning hours for all 9th-12th grade students for 2022-2023.

Q: Are there any adjustments of service hours due to the impact of COVID-19?

A: Beginning in the fall service hours are adjusted as follows:

  • Class of 2023: 30 required service hours
  • Class of 2024: 45 required service hours
  • Class of 2025: 45 required service hours
  • Class of 2026: 45 required service hours

Q: What are some suggestions for (social distance appropriate) service activities to complete my service goals?

A: Casady recognizes some students prefer to wear masks and practice social distancing. There are many options for remote service learning to complete the graduation requirement. Below are some ideas; however, projects are not limited to my suggestions. Just remember to maintain social distancing as recommended by the CDC when engaging in all service experiences. Additionally all UD students are required to document service by taking screenshots/photos or recordings of your activity and posting on MobileServe along with your service logs. All activities must be done with parental permission.

Each year, disasters around the world kill nearly 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally 'missing' from any map and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people. This project was founded by the American Red Cross, British Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and Humanitarian Open Street Team.

    Ways to participate:
    1) Individual contributors learn to map roads, using their own device, from home
    2) Organize a group "Mapathon" either virtually or in person
