Virtual Service Learning and FAQ's

Q: How do I communicate if there is a concern regarding any aspect of service such as MobileServe, potential virtual service validation, awards, etc.?

A: Please email omeliaa@casady.org. Ms. O'Melia will send an invitation via Google calendar. The face-to-face collaboration will be scheduled during daily weekday office hours, 2:30-3:15 PM.

Q: Is there an adjustment of the service graduation requirement for current seniors?

A: As of April 2 the 45 hours of service remains a requirement. Most seniors have completed their service hours. If service hours still need to be logged please see the virtual service activities outlined below.

Q: Regarding The Junior Class, will the new timeline (completion of service hours by the beginning of the senior year) be altered?

A: The amended deadline for completion of the service hours for graduation is September 30, 2020.

Q: Is there an extension on the March 31, 2020 deadline for the National Presidential Service Awards?

A: At this time (April 2) an extension has not been issued from the National Presidential Service Awards site. Individual schools and/or Service Learning Directors do not have the authority to make deadline changes on a national level.

Q: What are some suggestions for (social distance appropriate) service activities to complete my service goals for the National Presidential Service Awards?

A: There are many options for remote service learning. Below are some ideas; however, projects are not limited to my suggestions. Just remember to maintain social distancing as recommended by the CDC when engaging in all service experiences. Additionally all UD students are required to document service by taking screenshots/photos or recordings of your activity and posting on MobileServe along with your service logs. All activities must be done with parental permission.
