4/15-4/20 2018

Next Week is

a. National Volunteer Weekan opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to come together to tackle tough challenges, and build stronger, more resilient communities.
b. National Student Leadership Week, Since 1972, the national office of National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and National Student Council has sponsored NSLW.   NSLW 2018 is being celebrated April 15-21 with the theme “Make Your Mark on the World: Dream. Lead. Serve.” This theme is rooted in a massive student leadership initiative on global citizenship, which has been underway since 2016.
c. Week of the Young ChildNAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child™ in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children's success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child™ is a time to plan how we—as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation—will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.

Global Youth Service Days:
Established in 1988, Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) celebrates and mobilizes the millions of young people who improve their communities through service.  GYSD is the largest service event in the world and the only one dedicated to the contributions that children and youth make 365 days of the year.

Chandler Helms '12 has struck out as an entrepreneur and has developed an app called Buyer’s Marque. Chandler has been developing the app for a few years and has now devoted herself to growing it! The app is a fashion app for buyers to use at market. So boutique owners would be able to use the app at trade show appointments. The app has been live for just a short time, but already has more than 1,000 users!

"I spent a lot of time at Casady on the service blog and really enjoyed working on various service learning projects."
