Peace Day, less than a month Away

I am delighted to announce that this year we will mark Peace Day, 21 September with a live broadcastfrom Peace One Day HQ in London. This exciting event will be streamed on Facebook Live and will unite peacemakers from all over the world. You can expect to hear from high profile supporters of Peace Day, including long term ambassador Jude Law and many other special guests. Today also marks the release of the music video for I Wishby Jahméne. I am thrilled that Jahméne is to be the voice of Peace One Day for 2016. ‘I Wish’, a soulful and moving ballad from his upcoming album ‘Unfathomable Phantasmagoria’, will be performed live by Jahméne during our broadcast on Peace Day. Only one month to go to Peace Day! Here at Peace One Day we can feel the excitement building, and so many people are telling us that Peace Day has never been more relevant than now. From all over the world individuals, organisations, schools, communities and many others are sending us their plans for activities taking place on 21 September - and you can be part of it!

Looking for a YAC member to introduce the speaker, Dr. Belinda Biscoe.  Dr. Biscoe will visit Government Classes 1st and 2nd hour.  She will speak at UD and MD Chapels.  She might have lunch with YAC.

- Fall Fest: is at the end of September.  Ideas to make money for YAC's only fundraiser of the year

Sahanya will introduce speaker on Economic Justice Day, Ms. Terri Telley.  We are still looking for activity to do to connect to the theme of the day.  Mrs. Clay suggested making healthy snacks for Homeless Alliance with help of the Food Bank... will follow-up tomorrow

August 21, after Orientation  1:15-2:00.  Started on time and finished on time, but then we had a consultation with Coach T, and we met for 30 more minutes

 - When will YAC meet  
After a long discussion and a meeting with Coach T., Isaiah is proposing the following meeting schedule for consideration of the planning team

-Board members meet Mondays at 7:30 am.  We chose Mondays because there are no conflicts with other clubs.

-YAC members meet 1st and 3rd  Tuesday of the month.  Other Tuesdays as needed for community organizations to present project proposals or for project chairs to get project needs done.


- Calendar
Katherine reported on the below calendar which resulted from the Strategic Planning Time in May.  Changes will continue to be made in subsequent meetings.  A copy of the calendar will be provided to member at the first full membership meeting in September.

Isaiah will get YAC commitment for peace week 

Mrs. Clay will send Isaiah, Miranda and Katherine a PP "at draft stage" with rights to change, add or delete

Isaiah and Miranda will make a video with pictures for Clubs Fair, which might be the first week in September.  Second week is peace week.

Johnson Elementary:  Casady cheerleaders welcomed back students!
1st YAC Planning Meeting: The first meeting was on August 6th.  Miranda used a special app to contact planning team.  Meeting took place at Bennett. Small attendance (Miranda, Isaiah, Mariam, Safra, Natalie).  Agenda was prepared by Miranda and Isaiah. Minutes forthcoming
