Thank you from F-5 End of the Year Explosion of Color

The last YAC activity of the year was led by Jessica G.  It was the F-5 Fest End of the Year Holi Celebration.  All F-5 Fest activities collected over $1,000.  Jessica made flyers, designed, order, and collected money for the t-shirts.  She did it all despite pending final exams.  Jessica has provided hours for the students who volunteered and requested thank you YAC cards to write appreciation letters to Ajanta for their donation of food, to the donor who provided the holi powder and  to Johnnies Hamburgers for providing a percentage of sales on Thursdays for YAC F-5 Fest fundraiser.  In addition to the Holi Fest, in the month of May, YAC F-5 Fest joined hands on May 2nd with Father Youmans, sixth grader Rachel Christie, and the RunHers Woman’s Association sponsoring Johnnie’s Thursdays and a screening of Girl Rising Proceeds of Johnnie’s sales were matched by the Bob Stoops Foundation in honor of Bennett Hanneman for Pearson’s Syndrome Research.

Go Jessica!  We are looking forward to your YAC leadership next year!  Have a great summer!

Update:  Jessica was named ICS Volunteer of the Year!  Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to Johnnies Hamburgers for Casady YAC Thursdays benefiting Bennett Hanneman ($500). Merci! to Dr. Getika Verma  for her donation of Holi Power.

Gracias to  Ajanta Restaurant for a delicious snack that added a culturally enhancing flavor to the celebration and the Casady Development Office for the donation of  PARTICIPATE water bottles as well as their permission to connect to Johnnies for this fundraiser.

Arigato to the Casady business office, especially Mrs. Melissa Jenkins as she took care of the donations that arrived during the summer and sent the final check to the Bob Stoops Foundation, organization that matched F-5 Fest Final donation penny by penny.  Holi Fest with matching raised over $1,000.

A note of our appreciation to Mr. Fresonke and his crew for SETTING UP electrical needs and chilling water bottles as well as the extra cleaning of the area where the color explosion took place

Gracias a Carmen & Mrs. Clay for purchasing bandanas and glasses, making the fun packs, and setting up the color explosion next to Jimmy's while teen organizers were preparing for or taking finals.

Thank you to Mr. Philipson for allowing F-5 Fest to try something new on campus the last day of finals and to Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Keith for attending Holi and bringing some MD school students to explore the festivities.  Holi Fest was happy to have the participation of a few members of the International Club and future freshmen, Class of 2017!

Finally a big thank you to all the Cyclones who purchased the F-5 Fest T-shirts and attended Holi, especially Jessica G. for taking each hurdle as a learning opportunity, designing beautiful flyers and a cool t-shirt guided by her caring heart & Martin Y. for researching the safety of the holi powder and encouraging us to try a celebration he had experienced in India!

Service hours and total amount donated will be provided at the beginning of the school year.

Have a great summer!
